As part of the opening week for the new headquarters in Essen, EASY SOFTWARE collected donations for humanitarian aid for people affected by the war in Ukraine from all colleagues present. In addition to the classic donation box, EASY launched a spontaneous ice cream initiative together with Hensing GmbH, a manufacturer of self-service vending machines that also equipped the EASY office: Hensing supplied EASY with an ice cream vending machine containing ice cream, croissants, and everything else needed, free of charge, and made it available for the entire week. Each ice cream cost two euros – the entire proceeds of the Hensing ice cream machine (minus some tax fees) went into the donation pot! EASY as a company added an additional 5,000 euros to the amount thus collected over the week. EASY would like to thank Hensing GmbH for this spontaneous great support and their generous contribution!
The majority of the total amount donated will go to the Caritas Association in Essen, which receives people from Ukraine at Essen’s central train station, among other places, and continues to support them from there. EASY employees decided on this recipient organization in a company-wide survey.
Even before that, however, EASY used one fifth of its own donation amount of 5,000 euros to support another local and extremely effective initiative. Over the last few weeks, a diner owner from the Essen-Haarzopf district organized a supply and evacuation campaign for people affected by the war in Ukraine: a convoy of vans delivers medical materials, food, and other urgently needed relief supplies to Lviv in the war zone. On the way back, the convoy takes refugees to Germany. The 1,000 euros that EASY donates to the initiative roughly fill the fuel tank of a truck for the next trip there and back.
In addition to these financial donations, EASY allows all employees to take a day of special leave to engage in a humanitarian relief effort of their choice.
